so I'm thinking of selling my laptop, a venerable first-generation MacBook Pro on the cheap. It has a few issues, so I'm thinking $650.
The specs:
Intel Core Duo 2.0ghz (NOT 64-bit)
2GB ram
160GB hard disk, 7200rpm (brand new, I broke it recently and had to replace it)
15" inch display, with ATI Radeon X1600 graphics, 256mb VRAM
All the usual things: DVI display connector, gigabit ethernet, built in 802.11b/g wireless (NOT 802.11n), SuperDrive (DVD/R + CD/RW), ExpressCard slot, a power supply
It has OSX 10.5 installed, though the discs that come with it are 10.4.
The issues:
the built-in speakers don't work. This is because it permanently thinks it's got something plugged into the headphone jack. This could be fixed -- I'd even fix it for someone buying it, if they obtained the I/O subboard that's busted.
it's been dropped, and so the case is a bit warped. It's not too bad.
it's been opened up down to every component multiple times. This means that the heat sinks perform better than they did out of the factory (as I re-thermal-greased them), and that the apple logo has colors and a face.
since it's been dropped and opened, it is most certainly not under warranty
It does run boot camp, so you can dual boot windows and OSX. You could also just blow it away and run only windows. You could also run linux on it.
anyone interested? It's a pretty awesome laptop, and since it's lived a storied life it's a great deal! |

so it seems like the current game of TradeWars has ground to a halt, so we're considering bigbanging again.
any commentary about the settings of the last game that could use tweaking?
I did check, there's no way to make turns build up over successive days. |

I welcome you all to TRADEWARS 2002, one of the most classic and awesome
games of all time, now back in this modern era in one of the most classic
forms still available to us, the BBS version running under DOS!
I hope that all of you enjoy this totally sweet game. The game settings: 1500
sectors, 500 turns/day. There are 6 alien traders. Photon torpedos are enabled.
A quick tip to the newbies: make sure to park your ship in FedSpace before you
log off... you might want to take care with the last few turns of every day so
you can get back in FedSpace. If you don't park in FedSpace, other nefarious
players might destroy your ship while you're gone!
